For Yazmine Enriquez, Kerman isn't simply where she lives. It's where she grew up, where her family built a business, where she formed lifelong relationships, and where she chose to build her future.
Yazmine moved to Kerman at age 11 and grew up on a dairy just outside of town. Her memories of Kerman are filled with the everyday places and people that made the community feel like home: hot chocolate from Star 7 before school, donuts from Sunshine Donuts, evenings at Lions Park, the Harvest Festival, local restaurants, school activities, church at St. Patrick's, and the teachers and neighbors who helped shape her life.
As Kerman has grown, Yazmine believes one thing has remained constant: the heart of the community.
About Yazmine
Yazmine's story begins long before her decision to run for office.
Growing up, she worked alongside her father on the family dairy, helping round up cattle and learning early that hard work requires communication, responsibility, and a willingness to get your hands dirty.
She later spent nine years with GUESS, advancing from Sales Associate to Assistant Manager and Interim Store Manager and serving as a Brand Ambassador. Her responsibilities included sales, hiring, training, customer service, personnel management, visual merchandising, operations, event execution, and developing and retaining employees.
In 2021, Yazmine left GUESS and returned home to help operate her family's business, Fruta Fresca.
That decision ultimately brought her closer to the community she had grown up in.
A Small-Business Owner Who Understands What It Takes
Fruta Fresca opened in Kerman on June 6, 2012, just two days after Yazmine graduated from high school.
What began as a family ice cream business has grown into a place where generations of families visit, community events take shape, new flavors are created, and relationships are built.
Today, Yazmine helps manage the business alongside her parents. Her responsibilities include payroll, scheduling, paperwork, staffing, ingredient sourcing, inventory, production coordination, community outreach, events, and the unexpected problems that come with operating a small business.
It has given her firsthand experience with the opportunities and challenges facing local businesses.
Community Means Showing Up
Yazmine's community involvement grew naturally through Fruta Fresca.
One introduction led to an event. One event led to another connection. Those connections led to school-supply drives, family scavenger hunts, community partnerships, volunteer work, Rotary activities, public-safety events, and countless smaller opportunities to help.
Her first major community event after returning to Kerman was National Night Out with the Kerman Police Department. Yazmine credits Officer Cubillos with introducing her to the event and opening the door to deeper community involvement.

Yazmine's experiences as a resident, small-business owner, volunteer, and community organizer have shaped the issues she believes deserve attention.

Kerman has changed since Yazmine first arrived at age 11. It has grown, welcomed new families and businesses, and created new opportunities.
But its strength continues to come from its people.
Yazmine wants to help Kerman move forward without losing the relationships, pride, history, and hometown character that make it home.
